Most people have many questions when they begin the counseling process. If you have a question
that is not answered here but that is important to you, please ask. Additionally, remember that
counseling is usually a process. So, you are welcome to come in for our initial session together to
help you decide whether I am a good fit for what you are looking for.
How long does each counseling session last?
Sessions are typically 55 minutes long--whether you are a new client or an existing one. There may be certain circumstances in which we may schedule a longer session, but you & I would discuss this ahead of time
and make sure we both felt it would be beneficial.
How much do your sessions cost?
My standard fee for each 50-55 minute session is $150. Fees are typically due at the time of service
and are accepted via credit card, FSA/HSA cards, check, or money order.
What happens during the first session?
I like to have new clients fill out their initial forms prior to coming in so that I can have a chance to review them and so that you don't spend time during your first session filling out forms. I really like to spend the bulk of the first session spending the talking about what is most important to you & why you have decided to begin the counseling process.
But, we will also spend the first minutes of your initial session reviewing your forms, highlighting a few of my practice policies, & answering any and all questions you have. You can also, of course, be exactly how you want to be during
the first session (and any session for that matter!)--my aim is for you to feel comfortable with me & the process and
move as slowly or as quickly as you desire. Everyone is different--and that is okay and to be expected. Usually, we
can't "fix" things during that first session, but my hope will be to give you some ideas, reflection, & strategies for you
to experiment with after that first session and before your next.
How often do you recommend people come to counseling?
Ultimately, I leave that decision up to my clients--as it is often an individual decision with lots of different factors. My experience tells me that it is most helpful for people to initially begin with weekly or biweekly counseling so they can
gain some traction with the process and begin seeing some movement & growth without feeling like they are "starting over" each time they come (which often happens when new clients spread out appointments too far initially). In
the end, however, this decision is completely up to you. I also have no requirements as to how many sessions
counseling will last preferring your counseling process lasting as long as it feels like it is helpful & beneficial to you.
Quite honestly, the length is different for each person. This is something we can discuss further together.
Do you offer consultations so that I can see if we are a good fit?
I am happy to provide 5-10 minute phone conversations if that is helpful to you, but I am not providing in person consultations at this time. You can also schedule an initial appointment in person to help you figure out if I am a
good fit for what you are looking for. You also always have the option to stop coming to counseling at any time
once you start if I don't feel like the right fit for you.
How do I schedule my appointments?
New clients can email me to let me know of their interest in counseling or ask any questions they have (contact info noted below). From there, we will figure out best next steps together. I will get back to you usually within 2-3 business days. Existing clients can access my "Client Portal" feature at any time to schedule/reschedule/cancel appointments & send me secure messages, if needed. The "Client Portal" link can be found under the "scheduling" tab above as well.
Where exactly are you located?
I am located in the heart of Broadripple at 819 E. 64th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46220. My office is right near both the
Canal that goes through Broadripple as well as the Monon Trail. You can use our parking lot right in front of our
building while you are at your appointment. I'm happy to provide you exact directions if needed & where our
waiting room is located when you schedule your first appointment.
What days & times do you schedule appointments?
I am currently scheduling appointments Monday-Thursday as early as 9am and as late as 7pm depending on the day. My current availability shifts frequently so please reach out to me via email (located below) or via the contact form if you would like to talk about beginning counseling or scheduling an appointment.
